Biographical Sketch

Lineous Preston Bland, Jr. was born in Gloucester County, Virginia the son of Lineous Payne Bland (1861-1901) and Mary Ellen Padget (1860-1927).  He attended Randolph-Macon College and graduated from Roanoke College. On June 8, 1926, he married Ethel Heckman Bland and they had four children, Nan Bland Seeley, Lineous Preston Bland III, Rev. Ben P. Bland and James L. Bland.

Reverend Bland was a United Methodist minister who served in the Virginia Conference and as pastor for various churches in Virginia for 44 years. He was an avid genealogist who collected extensive information on the Bland Family. He died on March 11, 1989 in Portsmouth, Virginia and is buried in Wakefield Cemetery in Sussex County, Virginia.
