    The William & Mary Alumni Association was founded on July 4, 1842, and is the sixth-oldest alumni organization in the country. All graduates and former students of William & Mary are considered members of the Alumni Association. The organization's offices are in the Alumni House.

    The College of William & Mary Gay and Lesbian Alumni/ae (W&M GALA) was organized in 1986 by alumnus Steve Snell '66, the organization's first president, along with Harlan Powell and Professor George Greenia.
